Air France, Ramco to set up innovation lab in Singapore
Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) on Thursday announced that it has signed an agreement with Chennai-based Ramco Systems to set up a joint innovation center in Singapore. “A team of around ten people will work there on designing and developing innovative, rapid- deployment solutions for strategic areas in the aircraft maintenance industry, benefitting AFI KLM E&M customers all around the world,” Ramco Systems said in a statement. The MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) lab in Singapore will focus on wearable technology, optimising big data-linked applications, streamlining and monitoring maintenance data and improving customer relations. Recently, the group founded “The MRO Lab — Adaptive Innovations” to unleash its innovation potential and bring it to the marketplace. The establishment of a new R&D setup in Singapore is aimed at encouraging innovation and MRO solutions in one of the fastest growing MRO markets. The project is a part of AFI KLM E&M’s plan to promote and accelerate its innovation potential across the globe. “This programme is part of the group’s strategy to promote and accelerate its innovation potential, which relies on two pillars: stimulate innovation everywhere across our organization, and partner with innovative startups and universities in France, in the Netherlands and beyond,” said the company. AFI KLM E&M has been operational for nearly 75 years in the field of aircraft maintenance, safeguarding air safety, managing aircraft operation and minimising operational costs. “The MRO Lab is strategically located in Singapore to leverage on the aviation industry presence and tap into the best of multi-cultural, multi-lingual and multi-national talent pool the country has to offer,” said Virender Aggarwal, CEO, Ramco Systems.
