Ashok Gajapathi Raju launches an independent cargo subsidiary company, AAICLAS

P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Hon’ble Union Minister of Civil Aviation launched AAI Cargo Logistics & Allied Services Company Limited (AAICLAS) on 25th October 2016 at Hotel Taj Palace New Delhi. The AAICLAS is an independent cargo subsidiary company by corporatization of AAI’s Cargo Department. Neera Rawat has been appointed as the MD of the subsidiary and BK Mehrotra the Chief Executive Officer of AAICLAS.
The vision of the company is to become the foremost integrated Logistics Net Work operator in India with a primary focus on Air Cargo handling and allied services. This new subsidiary will be allowed to develop its own distinct culture, organizational structure and business model while at the same time draw upon the strength of its large parent origination, Airports Authority of India. All the activities currently being carried out by the Cargo Department of AAI will be merged into the new Company and the Department will no longer be functioning with AAI. The Company will be shortly initiating comprehensive discussion with all the stakeholders to ensure smooth transition of all cargo activities to the new Company. The company aims to focus on three verticals (a) Air Cargo handling and allied services, (b) Warehousing and Contract Logistics and (c) Air Cargo Road feeder and Air Freight Stations.
Air Cargo Logistics & Allied Services Company Limited by AAI would bring multiple advantages as there are lot of activities on the cargo front from the AAI in the days to come. AAI already has a vast reservoir of human resources in cargo handling who possess the requisite expertise and experience in handling cargo operations which would be gainfully utilized for organizational benefits. Efforts are being taken by the Airports Authority of India to establish regional connectivity through air cargo movement across the country.
Dr. Guruprsad Mohapatra, IAS, Chairman, AAI wished AAICLAS and the team success in their endeavor to make this the first of its kind AAI subsidiary. He also urged them to take this company from its fledgling stage to an effective establishment and ensure that AAI and the nation benefit from this effort
