CHIAL signs MoU with Airports Authority of India(AAI)

The MoU spells the targets that AAI needs to achieve this year.

Chandigarh International Airports Limited (CHIAL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the financial year 2016-17.  The MoU was signed by Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra, IAS, Chairman, AAI with Sh. S. Raheja, Chairman, CHIAL. Board Member (CHIAL) and other officers of AAI were also present on the occasion.  This memorandum spells the targets to be achieved by AAI on key performance area during 2016-17. 

CHIAL was also in the news recently for taking significant steps to go green and to reduce its carbon footprint. It signed a PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) of 25 years, with a leading renewable energy company ReNew Power, for solar installations. CHIAL intends to set up a 5MW capacity plant that will make use of single axis tracker technology for improved efficiency in the installations. 

The 5MW capacity plant will generate annually 8.4 million units of power with a reduced carbon emission of 8000 tonnes. The power generated will reduce its energy costs by 20%.

ReNew is well known for delivering cleaner and smarter choices in renewable energy through solar and wind power solutions and has been commissioning them in nine states of India such as Haryana, Jharkhand, MP, Telengana, Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan, A.P and Maharashtra.
