CII inks MoUs with 3 Singapore universities for students training

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Friday signed memorandum of understandings (MoUs) with three universities of Singapore in order to offer training opportunities to the students.

The MoUs will allow the Singapore universities and the International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, a government agency promoting foreign trade, to tap into the network of CII of more than 8,000 members for creating international attachment opportunities for students enrolled in the universities.

IE Singapore, which is a statutory board under the Trade and Industry Ministry of Singapore, is the lead signatory of MoU and will support these attachment opportunities under the Young Talent Programme for Students.

The signatories to the MoUs are National University of Singapore (NSU), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Singapore Management University (SMU).

These agreements were inked at the ASEAN-India Business Forum, which was held in Singapore.

Speaking at the forum, Minister of Trade and Industry of Singapore, S Iswaran, said that these MoUs signed with CII will help Singapore’s university undergraduates access opportunities for internship with member firms across India.

Underlining the significance of participation in the development of India’s economy, he said, “This will help in creating a pipeline of talent which is India-ready and that can support firms when they expand in this vital market.”

“India and Southeast Asia are increasingly vital markets for our country and businesses,” Iswaran said.

“Companies should, therefore, closely examine their strategies for Southeast Asia and India, and be open to adopting new business entry models. IE Singapore stands ready to support companies as they develop and execute their market engagement strategies,” he said.
