Gujarat is the only power surplus-state in the country: Vijay Rupani

“Gujarat is the only power surplus-state in the country which has helped us bring industrial revolution while also creating employment at the same time,” said Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani during the curtain raiser of the 8th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017 held in New Delhi.

He shed light on the fact that the state has 102 product clusters, over 200 industrial estates, 19 operational SEZs and 13 Special Investment Regions. “For ease of doing business, we are making infrastructure, framing policies and taking all the relevant steps,” added Rupani.

He said “Gujarat is the top contributor to the economy because of its industrial excellence and conducive environment for business opportunities”.

Rupani also appealed to key industrialists to be a partner with the state and work together for the growth of the nation. He elaborated upon the inclusive growth and sustainable development that Gujarat has achieved along with emphasizing on proactive investor facilitation in line with the vision of the PM. 

The conference made note of the fact that MSME plays a major role in the industrial growth of Gujarat with over 20 lakhs micro, small and medium enterprises providing employment to over 1.5 crore people.

The summit was also addressed by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) Secretary Ramesh Abhishek who highlighted that Gujarat has been making significant contribution to exports along with attracting $30 billion FDI in the last 15 years.

The other key speakers that addressed the summit include Sujit Gulati, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy & Petrochemical Department), Government of Gujarat; P. K Taneja, Additional Chief Secretary, (Industry & Mines Department), Government of Gujarat; J.N Singh, Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat; and Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
