India gives 30 SUVs to Mozambique

India on Thursday gave 30 SUVs, 100 ton of medicines and medical equipment to Mozambique, thereby completing the grant assistance of $4.5 million as part of supporting this African country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on a bilateral visit to Mozambique on Thursday, also handed over four buses (financial grant $122,000) to Centre for Innovation and Technological Development (CIDT) as donation.
External Affairs Ministry Secretary (Economic Relations) Amar Sinha handed over the vehicles to an official of Mozambique’s Interior Ministry.
"With the handing over of 30 Mahindra SUVs, India completes delivery on $4.5 million grant assistance to Ministry of Interior," External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup said in a tweet.
"New engines for innovation. PM @narendramodi donates 4 buses to the CITD," Swarup said in a series of tweets.
India also signed an agreement with Mozambique to purchase its pulses.
"India's commitment to buy pulses from Mozambique would help meet India's requirement. It will also facilitate long-term investments in commercial farming, generation of farm employment and raise farmers' incomes in this country (Mozambique)," Modi said.
As part of the agreement, India will encourage Mozambique to produce greater quantity of pulses with an assurance that it will purchase additional quantity of pluses at a mutually-agreed prices
India generally faces a shortfall of pulses leading to its domestic price rise. Mozambique, on the other hand, grows the commodity more than its domestic consumption. It will be a win-win situation for both the nations.
