India’s electronics manufacturing sector, which is the world’s largest consumer electronic marker has crossed its total saving of around Rs.1.28 lakh crore as against Rs.11,700 crore of total investment under the supervision of the previous government. The Indian government is playing an important role to make India a hub for electronic manufacturing. Along with this, the states and the central government have to participate in this move as India is easily accepting new technologies and also expected to have half a billion internet users by the end of current year. Communications and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad feels that India has taken many years for internet users to reach 200 to 300 million, but it took just a year to touch 400 million. One of the internet service providers opined, the target for the internet users is likely to touch 500 million by the end this year. The Government’s goal is also to create a digitally-empowered and enlightened India with a digital enabled society. Today, India is becoming digital as it has a billion users of the internet or mobile phones. Especially, half of the online market growing in India is from small towns. Under Digital India, the government has linked all Gram Panchayats through broadband network, and are expecting to start projects of e-business, e-education and e-health in villages. Apart from this, many BPO companies also showed their interest to fix BPO operations at around 190 places in India, as the Indian government sanctioned ‘India BPO Promotion Scheme’ (IBPS) in India. “IBPS aim is to set up of BPO/ITES operations in India, particularly in digital areas, for creating employment opportunities through information Technology and balanced growth of IT and It enabled service sector in each state,” the Ministry of Communication & IT said in a statement.
