Mauritius to offer biofarming technology to India

India and Mauritius had signed an MoU in December last year to cooperate in the areas of their mutual interest

  Mauritius has agreed to transfer its biofarming technology to India and enhance cooperation with the country, especially in the health sector. On Thursday, India’s Minister for MSME (Micro Small and Medium Enterprises) Kalraj Mishra and Mauritius’s Minister of Business Soomilduth Sunil Bholah held first India-Mauritius Joint Committee Meeting in New Delhi. The two leaders agreed to enhance cooperation in MSME sector and also identified key areas for greater partnership. Giriraj Singh, Minister of State for MSME, co-chaired the meeting from the Indian side. The two countries agreed to enhance their engagements in the areas of capacity building through training of trainers, surveys on potential areas, managerial and technical skills, marketing, exhibitions & trade fairs, exchange of business missions, setting up of business incubators, and easy access to finance and clusters initiative. “It was also agreed to formulate an action plan in the area of coir, khadi and handicraft sectors in addition to the above areas,” Ministry of MSME said in a statement. The two countries had signed an MoU in December last year to cooperate in the areas of their mutual interest. Bilateral relations between the two countries have been rejuvenated in recent times, especially after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the country in March 2015, when India announced a $500 million line of credit for Mauritius’s infrastructure projects.
