Indian arm of Japanese auto major, Nissan Motor Company, Nissan India reported an increase of 24.86% in its domestic sales at 4,807 units in the month of February compared to 3,850 units in the same month in 2016.
The strong performance in sales in the given month is attributed to the ongoing growth in the sales of Nissan and Datsun brands in the country, such as Datsun redi-GO and Nissan Micra," Nissan said in a statement on Thursday.
“Our growth story has been driven by the continued success of Datsun redi-GO,” said Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India.
Under its Nissan and Datsun brands, the automaker sells vehicles across various segments in India such as hatchback, SUV, MUV and sedan.
In addition to domestic sales, Nissan has attained a new milestone in India. The Japanese major has shipped a total of 7 lakh vehicles in the international markets which were manufactured in the country. The company has achieved this milestone in a span of 7 years since it started exporting vehicles manufactured at its Chennai unit. The vehicles have been shipped to around 106 countries across the world. The most exported model of Nissan India is the Micra hatchback.
The Datsun Go Plus model has been exported to the South African markets since July last year, while the Datsun brand marked its re-entry in the Sri Lankan market with the Redi-GO after 60 years in August 2016.
Nissan Motor India also exports more than 2,500 different types of auto parts to its 25 facilities located in 18 countries.
