Ola to invest Rs.350cr in Haryana in next 5 years

Ola will work with Haryana government to train and provide right skills to thousands of people

The cab aggregator, Ola, on Tuesday said that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Haryana government for investing Rs.350 crore in the state over the next 5 years and to create more than 10,000 entrepreneurs.

The online transportation network firm has partnered with the state government to utilise its technology aggregation model to make the public transport easily accessible to the people of Haryana.

"We will make an investment of Rs.350 crore in Haryana in the coming 5 years to create opportunities for entrepreneurship all over the state," said Pranay Jivrajka, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Ola.

"We will work in tandem with the Haryana government for training and providing the required skills to thousands of people (men and women) across the state and help the people to take the first step as an entrepreneur," the COO added.

Haryana government will also work in partnership with the cab aggregator to help start services such as Ola Auto, Ola Share, Ola Bike and Ola Shuttle across the state.

Jivrajka further said that Ola will enhance access to mobility in the cities across Haryana by getting on-board innovative services of transportation such as Ola Share, Ola Auto, and several others to complement the prevailing urban transport system in the state.

The technology platform of Ola will not only help in providing individuals the opportunity to enhance their economic conditions but also to develop entrepreneurship skills.

Commenting on the partnership, Sudhir Rajpal, Managing Director, Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) said that Haryana is growing at a rapid pace and the state government is taking measures such as 'enterprise promotion policy' to improve business environment in the state. Our tie-up with Ola will further enhance the efforts of the government in facilitating economic development in Haryana and also enhance the skills and opportunities for entrepreneurship in the people.

Currently, Ola is operating in 5 cities in Haryana that include Ambala, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Panchkula, and Kurukshetra.
