Pipavav port gets RoRo vessel from Norway This is yet another testimony of the infrastructure capabilities and efficiency built by APM Terminals Pipavav to handle large vessels and RoRo operations

APM Terminals Pipavav, one of western India’s gateway ports, said that it has received the maiden RORO (roll on-roll off) ship from Norway-based Hoegh Autoliners to be used for automobile exports. The vessel—Hogen Antwerp— which was berthed at the port last month will be used to load Ford’s small and midsized cars, being exported from its Sanand plant in Gujarat, the Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd. said in a statement. “This is yet another testimony of the infrastructure capabilities and efficiency built by APM Terminals Pipavav to handle large vessels and RoRo operations,” the statement said. Hoegh Autoliners is a leading global provider of transportation and logistics services within the RoRo segment. It has large fleet of vessels for pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) sailing in global trade systems. In August last year, APM Terminals Pipavav commenced operations of its RoRo facility and successfully berthed its first RoRo vessel at the port. Since then, over 10,000 cars have been shipped from Pipavav Port. “This is a proud moment for us at APM Terminals Pipavav as we are in line with our commitment of providing multiple services by adding value to our existing portfolio. The berthing of the vessel Hoegh Antwerp reinstates that RoRo facility at Pipavav Port has been developed with most modern facilities and well trained staffs. With Gujarat becoming a hub for manufacturing, we hope to contribute by offering best logistic support going forward as well,” said Keld Pedersen, Managing Director of APM Terminals Pipavav. Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd is a part of the APM Terminals Global Terminal Network of 64 operating ports, terminal facilities and 135 inland services, which serves as a gateway for movement of containers, bulk, liquid and cars.
