‘SIBLERT’ to enhance Indo-Sweden business ties

Following Prime Minster Narendra Modi and Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven’s bilateral meeting, a high-level platform for India and Sweden business leaders was formed in New Delhi, on Monday. The new business platform called Swedish-India Business Leaders Round Table (SIBLERT) aims at identifying challenges in fields of trade and investment, business and financing, research and innovation, industrialization and regulation, among others, on both the sides. Towards facilitating ways for business environment, the forum also advises the political leadership to take the ties ahead from European and global business perspectives. A joint secretariat having Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Sweden-India Business Council (SIBC) has been constituted to facilitate ways for SIBLERT, according to an official release. Key businessmen representing both the sides lauded the launch of SILBERT. “With SIBLERT we will actively contribute to the collaboration of top industrialists and CEOs in fashion in line with the traditions of SIBC. Having the SIBLERT secretariat with us is of course a great honour, as is partnering with one of our founders in CII,” said Robin Sukhia, SIBC President. “This Round Table would seek to enhance business to business linkages between the two countries and truly take the economic relationship between the two countries to its next level,” said Chandrajit Banerji, Director General of CII. Meanwhile, lauding both the Prime Ministers’ initiative in forming a strong business-to-business dialogue between the two countries, Marcus Wallenberg, Chairman of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken(SEB), a Swedish financial institution said the ‘relation between India and Sweden is a perfect match in terms of innovation, entrepreneurship and technology. I am looking forward to an intensive and close collaboration.’ He expressed hope that ‘the exchange of ideas between executives and industrialists in the Sweden-India Round Table will foster even stronger ties between our two business communities’. “We had the opportunity to have a high powered delegation from Sweden to come to ‘Make in India’. If this can be catapulted into a process, this will be a wonderful start for the SIBLERT initiative.” The SIBC formed with a joint collaboration of the Swedish Confederation of Enterprises and CII, also has Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Business Sweden as its close partners.
