India, South Korea ink deal to enhance air connectivity
The Dollar Business Bureau India and South Korea have signed an agreement to enhance air services that include increasing the number of flights from 6 to 19 per week and granting additional points of call at Indian airports for the operators of east-Asian country. As per the agreement, South Korean flight operators will be able to access more Indian airports, add passenger capacity for travelers between two countries and use each other as stop-overs to fly to further destinations. Apart from Tokyo and Los Angeles, two additional beyond points of call- Seattle and Vancouver—have been granted for Indian carriers. India signs pacts with six countries to boost air connectivity
The Dollar Business Bureau India has signed agreements with six countries in order to enhance international air connectivity and improve services for passenger travelling through Gulf and African countries. The Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed at the International Civil Aviation Negotiations held in Antalya, Turkey during October19-23. The agreements were signed with Scandinavian countries—Finland Sweden, Norway & Denmark – as well as Kazakhstan, Kenya, Oman and Ethiopia. During the conference, the Indian delegation representing the Ministry of Civil Aviation negotiated with the delegations from 11 countries. The Indian delegation also “agreed minutes” with Serbia, Greece, European Commission and “record of discussions” with Brunei Darussalam and Qatar, a Finance Ministry statement said on Thursday. Fifteen new airports to widen air connectivity among smaller cities
The Dollar Business Bureau In order to improve air connectivity in smaller cities, the government has granted “in principle” approval for setting up of 15 greenfield airports across the country. Greenfield airports are set up on undeveloped land with an aim to cater to the areas that are yet to be connected to the existing airports. Upcoming airport projects are planned in Mopa in Goa, Navi Mumbai, Shirdi and Sindhudurg in Maharashtra. Karnataka will have four such airports at Bijapur, Gulbarga, Hasan and Shimoga, while Kerala will get two— Kannur and Aranmula.
