Govt to cancel all Finmeccanicas defence tenders
The Dollar Business Bureau India has decided to cancel all the current tenders for the defence equipment that was won by Italy’s Finmeccanica. The firm is currently undergoing bribery investigation in the Augusta Westland VVIP chopper deal. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, in an interview to PTI, said the government is in the process of blacklisting the firm and all its subsidiaries, and a related letter has already been sent to the Ministry of law. "Wherever there is capital procurement of Finmeccanica and their subsidiaries, all Requests for Proposal (RFP) will be closed. I am very clear," Parrikar said. Government allows foreign firm to bid for a domestic helicopter contract
The Dollar Business Bureau In a move to promote the Make in India, the Government of India has decided to allow a foreign firm to bid for a Naval Utility Helicopter (NUH) contract, on the condition that the firm ties up with a local vendor. According to the Defence News, the Indian government is likely to allow the Italy-based AugustaWestland to bid for NUH for the Indian Navy. The contract by the Indian Navy, for the supply of 100 light-utility vehicles is estimated to be worth around US$ 2 billion, the report informed.
