While the Petroleum Ministry has given nod to BP to enter Indian aviation fuel supply space, the Europe’s second-largest oil company will have to take environment and safety as well as airport clearance before actually beginning jet fuel sales. “BP has been granted ‘in-principle’ approval to market aviation turbine fuel (ATF) in India. Government likely to ease norms for aircraft imports
The Dollar Business Bureau The government is likely to allow airlines to import aircraft without prior approval, Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said. As per the existing norms, all scheduled and unscheduled regional airline operators need to get a no-objection certificate from the Civil Aviation Ministry for the acquisition or import of aircraft. Fifteen new airports to widen air connectivity among smaller cities
The Dollar Business Bureau In order to improve air connectivity in smaller cities, the government has granted “in principle” approval for setting up of 15 greenfield airports across the country. Greenfield airports are set up on undeveloped land with an aim to cater to the areas that are yet to be connected to the existing airports. Upcoming airport projects are planned in Mopa in Goa, Navi Mumbai, Shirdi and Sindhudurg in Maharashtra. Karnataka will have four such airports at Bijapur, Gulbarga, Hasan and Shimoga, while Kerala will get two— Kannur and Aranmula.
