Indo-China border trade officially stops after closure of Nathula Pass

The information has been sourced from a Sikkim government press release which highlighted November 30 as the official date of closure of the pass. The event was marked by a formal closing function that was held at the Nathula Pass. Govt pushes for greater trade with Myanmar via land

The Dollar Business Bureau To boost trade with Myanmar, the government is pushing for more trade between the two countries through the shared land boundary, stated Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia. “Greater trade through land border will positively affect the economy of the country’s North Eastern region, and also enhance people-to-people contact,” Teaotia said on Wednesday while speaking at the launch of a study on ‘Enhancing India-Myanmar Border Trade: Policy and Implementation Measures’ jointly brought out by Ministry of Commerce and RIS. The study provides an in-depth analysis for increasing trade between India and Myanmar through land borders. Nepal, China agree to open seven more border trade points

Source: PTI Nepal and China have agreed to open seven more border trading points to facilitate flow of essential goods to the landlocked country reeling under acute shortage due to blockade of a key border point with India by Madhesis protesting against the new Constitution. The annual meeting of Nepalese and Chinese customs officials in Kathmandu on the issue of simplifying trade and customs procedures concluded with the signing of a 20-point agreement.
