The Dollar Business Bureau The government said on Tuesday that taxes on entertainment, Direct-To-Home (DTH) and cable services would come down in the new Goods and Services Tax (GST) as 'entertainment tax' that is imposed by the states has been included in the GST regime. The services offered through admission to cinematography films or entertainment events in cinema halls will be imposed with a rate of 28% under GST effective from July 1, the Finance Ministry said in a statement. Presently, the states levy entertainment tax of up to 100% with regard to exhibition of films in cinema halls/theatres. Government to fix FDI policy issues of different sectors
The Dollar Business Bureau In a bid to give fillip to “ease of doing business” in India, the government is taking note of the policy-related problems existing in different sectors even after liberalising the norms of the foreign direct investment (FDI). The concern was raised by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) which highlighted specific issues related to infrastructure and taxation that require attention despite the government approving changes in the FDI regime earlier this year. The reforms that have been implemented so far include allowing 100% inflow in civil aviation and food processing sectors while easing norms in defence and pharmaceuticals. BSNL will lay 2700-km of cable to improve services in Assam
Source: PTI For better network and connectivity, the BSNL Assam Telecom Circle plans to lay 2,747 km cable to cover 1,010 gaon panchayats (GP) in 91 blocks and 19 districts of Assam. "Under the National Optical Fiber Network (NOFN) Project we have planned to lay 2,747 km of cable to cover 1,010 gaon panchayats (GP) in 91 blocks and 19 districts of Assam", BSNL Assam Telecom Circle Chief General Manager M K Seth said here.
