Gujarat bans Chinese manjha for Uttarayan festival
The Dollar Business Bureau The government of Gujarat on Thursday told the Gujarat High Court about its order to ban Chinese 'manjha' for kite-flying during the festivities of Uttarayan and said that it prefers using the cotton thread ‘manjha’. The state government said the decision has been taken as a response to the petition seeking restrictions on flying kites due to the death of birds and in few cases, of humans because of the sharp threads of manjha. KPCT, Maersk launch weekly mainline service to China
The Dollar Business Bureau Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal (KPCT) has launched a weekly mainline service to China which will be operated by Maersk line in partnership with Hanjin Shipping of Korea. Maersk Line MD Franck Dedenis and KPCT Director and CEO Anil Yendluri inaugurated the mainline service at Krishnapatnam Port on Monday. This new service will offer competitive services to the exporters and importers of South Indian states particularly Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to transit bulk cargo to the ports of China, South-East Asia, and other Asian countries. Currently, it takes 40-45 days for the cargo from South India to reach the consignee in China. This will be reduced by 50% with the launch of the direct mainline service. 'Chinas slowdown may spell disaster for steel industry'
The Dollar Business Bureau Indian steel industry which is already hit by cheap imports is expected to face more challenges due to market turbulence triggered by the dramatic slowdown of Chinese economy, an industry body has said. “Troubles within China are expected to spell disaster for the Indian steel industry, as desperate Chinese manufacturers would dump their products more rigorously abroad, having already registered a growth of 232 % in their shipments to Indian ports,” said the Associated Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ASSOCHAM), citing its own study.
