Chief executive of QIC Damien Frawley said the company, whose major clients include defined benefit superannuation scheme for Queensland public servants, was keen to explore infrastructure opportunities around the state. Even though the company has not been approached for investment in the Adani's Carmichael coal mine project, QIC has said it would not be interested in the mine itself. Adanis Aus mine project gets approval for rail line, camp
PTI Indian mining giant Adani's plan to build one of the world's largest coal mines in Australia got a major boost on Monday as it secured the final approval for a permanent rail line and a temporary construction camp for the 21.7 billion dollars controversy-hit project despite protests.Queensland's Coordinator-General has given "the latest, and final, secondary approval" for about 31.5 kilometres of permanent track, as well as the 300-bed camp.The rail section approved will form part of the 389- kilometre heavy haul railway line from the mine in the Galilee Basin to the Abbot Point port, ABC News reported.State Development Minister Anthony Lynham said the approval was another milestone for the project."Adani has confirmed it will start construction next year," Lynham ...
CIL looks to produce 71.77 MT of coking coal by 2019-20
The Dollar Business Bureau Coal India Ltd. (CIL) has set a target to produce 71.77 million tonnes (MT) of coking coal out of its total production of 1,000 MT by 2019-20. Coking coal production stood at 53.8 million tonnes in 2015-16, Coal Minister Piyush Goyal said on Thursday. The initiative aims at reducing imports of coking coal. "The enhancement in domestic production of coking coal is envisaged to reduce coking coal imports. However reduction of coking coal imports totally would not be possible due to the constraint of availability of metallurgical grade coal from domestic sources", he said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha. Source: PTI Indian mining giant Adani's $16.5-billion controversy-hit coal mine project in Australia on Monday faced a fresh legal challenge from an environmental group which sought quashing of a new government approval on grounds that it would harm the fragile Great Barrier Reef and add to climate change. The mega project located in Queensland's Galilee Basin was last month granted re-approval by EnvironmentMinister Greg Hunt.
