Sairaj Iyer Data insufficiency in declarations made on the bill of entry records (BoE) is eating into the excise department’ time, thereby causing disruption in the facilitation of requests. “People are apprehensive about sharing information with the department. But then, doing so would only help the department facilitate work better,” said SK Vimalanathan, the Commissioner of Central Excise for Thane Zone-1. He was replying to a question on data governance. Commissioners appointed by several States to boost exports
The Dollar Business Bureau The Centre’s aim to achieve the $900 billion exports target by 2019-20, got a major boost with as many as 21 states appointing export commissioners and another 14 framing strategies to increase outward shipments. Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, have already sent their export strategies and the commissioners of other states would also come up with strategies for easing of bottlenecks and development of infrastructure through appropriate allocation of resources. The Centre on its part has asked the nodal officers to work in tandem with the state governments and prepare a list of projects, which will support exports growth in the wake of continued contraction in exports.
