Ease of doing business focusses on easing permits not facilitating reforms: Experts

These views were expressed by experts and economists at a round-table session titled “Competitiveness and EODB”, held in New Delhi on Monday. The discussion was focused on comparing India and the US, with regard to the ease of doing business. “There is a huge resemblance in the federal structure of India and the US, where different states have the required powers for influencing the climate for business. CUTS International advises government to modernise infrastructure to help enhance competitiveness

The Dollar Business Bureau India’s leading research and advocacy firm, CUTS International has in its report said, ‘A strong and modern export infrastructure would help enhance competitiveness of Indian exporters in the global market and boost shipments.’ Export infrastructure needs to improve a lot. The research firm suggested that, "A robust export infrastructure leads to trade creation while the lacklustre picture of the same culminates into trade distortion," it said in a statement. India, Bangladesh agree to promote seeds exchange

The Dollar Business Bureau India and Bangladesh entered into an agreement to initiate the cross-border trade in High-Yielding Varieties (HYV) of rice seeds. A Memorandum of Understanding to this effect was signed between the Seed associations of the two countries, in New Delhi. While a protocol on the HYV of rice seeds has been signed already between the two countries, also involving Nepal, the latest MoU creates a way for formalization of the same between India and Bangladesh.
