Defence Minister & US Defence Secretary discuss expansion of ties

Source: PIB, Government of India During an official visit to India, Dr. Ashton Carter, the United States Secretary of Defence, met Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also met the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and the National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. Before arriving in Delhi, Secretary Carter also visited the Eastern Naval Command. Parrikar and Secretary Carter discussed the India-U.S. defence relationship, and the broader India-US Strategic Partnership, and reaffirmed their commitment to expand and deepen the bilateral defence relationship. The two also reviewed the existing and emerging regional security dynamics. Indo-US new defence framework to ease technology transfer

 Sai Nikesh | The Dollar Business India and the United States, as a part of defence cooperation, have finalized a new framework agreement which would be a replacement to the existing deal, that was supposed to expire in June 2015. The new defence framework is expected to facilitate synchronization between the armed forces of the two countries, along with creating a larger scope for technology transfer in defence between the two economies. According to the defence reports, the deal will make the process easier for American firms to share their military technology with India and also actively participate in manufacturing of weapon systems jointly with India.
