NASSCOM lowers IT export growth estimates to 7-8% in 2017-18
The Dollar Business Bureau India’s IT software exports are expected to grow at 7-8% during the current financial year 2017-18, which is less than 8-10% in the previous fiscal of 2016-17, the apex trade body NASSCOM said on Thursday. “The outlook for the IT industry in fiscal 2017-18 is 7-8% growth in exports and 10-11% in the domestic market as against 10-12% in 2016-17,” NASSCOM said in a statement. The Indian IT services sector has been coping with a slowdown in the business of banking and financial services, which contributes a major part to the revenues. Aadhaar-enabled payment coming soon
The Dollar Business Bureau The government has unveiled a path-breaking payment method, routed in the revolutionary Aadhaar Card, a unique identification mechanism that uses biometrics. Soon, the Indian citizen will walk into shops and settle his bills using his Aadhaar number, making wallets or mobile phones redundant for the purpose of making payments. "We are going to start Aadhaar Pay. People can visit any merchant, share their Aadhaar number and verify themselves using biometrics to pay and receive money," Electronics and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said. Not specifying a date for its launch, the Minister said that Aadhaar Pay will soon be implemented. The new payment idea has already roped in 14 banks, and is in the process of enrolling other banks. Smartphones prices should come down to $30 in India: Pichai

Vodafone launches M-Pesa Pay app to facilitate easy digital transaction
The Dollar Business Bureau Vodafone on Tuesday launched a feature on its mobilewallet application to enable merchants to receive payments aimed to cash in on the cashless transaction atmosphere post the Government's demonetisation move. "M-Pesa Pay is a new feature which we're adding on to M-Pesa to enable ease of transactions between merchants and customers. M-Pesa Pay is really a merchants’ product," Vodafone managing director and chief executive Sunil Sood said to the reporters. Sood said the new special feature will be a substitute for the capital-intensive PoS machines. Merchants will be required to download the application only once, which will swiftly make their cashless transactions with customers. Govt. panel to levy 6%-8% equalization levy on e-commerce transactions above Rs.1 lakh
The Dollar Business Bureau A government appointed committee proposed an Equalization Levy of 6% - 8% on e-commerce transactions that cross Rs.1 lakh. This move is to bring the burgeoning e-commerce sector under the tax net.
