IOC to set up Rs 600-cr ethanol plant at Panipat

PTI State-owned oil company Indian Oil Corporation will set up a Rs 600-crore plant to produce second generation ethanol at Panipat in Haryana. The state government has accepted the investment proposal, which was approved by the empowered executive committee at its meeting held here today, an official spokesperson said. "The plant will use plant waste, stubble, husk and straw to produce 100 KL of ethanol every day. The state government has agreed to provide land either on nominal lease or free of cost. Billed to be the largest such plant in the country, it is expected to generate hundreds of jobs," the spokesperson added. Indias first 2nd gen ethanol bio-refinery to be set up in Bathinda

The Dollar Business Bureau  The foundation stone for India’s first second-generation (2g) ethanol bio-refinery is to be laid on December 25, 2016 at Tarkhanwala village in the Bathinda district of Punjab. The bio-refinery would be set up with an approximate investment of Rs.600 crores. This could be one of the major steps to tackle the menace of wheat and paddy straw burning in Punjab. Recently Delhi and its surrounding areas were covered with acrid smog. That was attributed to fireworks, crop burning, vehicle pollutants and construction. GOI to draft policies on coal-based urea

Road & Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said the Ministries of Chemical and Fertiliser and New and Renewable Energy will soon come out with draft policies in three weeks for manufacturing of coal-based urea and second generation ethanol. “We want to manufacture coal-based urea in the country as presently we are providing Rs 45,000 crore as subsidy on urea,” Gadkari said. “We want to promote second generation ethanol. A unanimous decision was taken that Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Chemicals Fertilizers will come out with the policies," he said. Indias first 2G Ethanol plant in Uttarakhand

PTI Union Minister Harsh Vardhan on Friday inaugurated the country's first second-Generation (2G) Ethanol plant at Kashipur in north Indian state of Uttarakhand. "The technology is suited for both Indian and global needs and it is projected to be capable of converting all types of agricultural residues like bagasse, rice and wheat straw, bamboo, cotton stalk, corn stover, wood chips to ethanol in less than 24 hours, with optimum product yields," the Union Minister for Science Technology and Earth Sciences said. Govt. mulls withdrawal of import duty on used cooking oil

Government mulling sugar export via barter trade with other nations

Source: PTI After the Prime Minister directed to explore possibility of increasing sugar exports, the Food Ministry is looking at various options including the barter trade of the sweetener against import of farm items, as part of steps to offload surplus stock and clear cane arrears. Union cabinet gives its nod for hike in import duty on sugar to 40%

 The Dollar Business Bureau The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister of India, on Wednesday, gave its nod for import duty hike on sugar from the current 25% to 40%. This move by the government comes a day after the government’s decision to ease norms for the export of sugar to the United States and the European Union.
