Gionee signs MoU with Haryana govt for investment of Rs 500 cr
PTI Gionee mobile phones would now be manufactured in Haryana as the company today signed an MoU with the state government to set up its phone manufacturing hub with an initial investment of Rs 500 crore which, later on, would be increased to Rs 1,500 crore. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and state industries minister Vipul Goel by Chairman, Gionee Mobiles, Liu Lirong and Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) here. DIPP waives 30% local sourcing norm for Apple
The Dollar Business Bureau Apple has finally received a nod by DIPP on Wednesday to start its retail outlets in the country. The panel, led by Ramesh Abhishek Secretary, DIPP (Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion) has waived the 30 percent local content sourcing norm for Apple. According to sources the panel has agreed to remove the condition as it looked forward to the “cutting edge technology” that Apple would bring into the country. The committee has approved Apple’s proposal but is awaiting a go-ahead from the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Asus to make smartphones in India; partners Foxconn
Source : PTI Asus on Thursday said it has partnered with Foxconn to begin local manufacturing of smartphones in Sri City in Andhra Pradesh, a move that will help the Taiwanese tech major bolster its presence in the burgeoning Indian handset market. The company, which will kickstart manufacturing operations with Zenfone 2 Laser followed by ZenFone Go, aims to manufacture 1.5 lakh smartphones a month by the end of the current financial year.
