CEPC expects business of a few thousand crore rupees at India Carpet Expo

Aamir H Kaki Mahavir Pratap Sharma, Chairman, Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC), said on Monday that they are expecting a business of a few thousand crore rupees at the 33rd edition of India Carpet Expo (ICE). “We are hoping to generate a lot of business from this edition of ICE. This is one of our bi-annual events and I personally feel that New Delhi is easy for buyers to come. The previous edition was held in Varanasi last year. Aamir H Kaki The Ministry of Textiles has taken various initiatives for the upliftment and growth of poor weavers and artisans in the handmade carpet industry, said Ajay Tamta, Minister of State for Textiles on Monday. “We have taken various measures for the upliftment and growth of the poor artisans in the handloom carpet industry, he said on the sidelines of the 33rd edition of the India Carpet Expo (ICE), which is being held on 27-30 in New Delhi. “Textile sector is the second largest employer after agriculture in India. China keen to import Indian handmade carpets

The Dollar Business Bureau China on Tuesday expressed interest to sign an agreement with CPEC to promote and sell Indian handmade carpets in Chinese city of Yiwu.  An eight-member Chinese delegation, lead by Wang Bi Rong, Director General Bureau of Commerce, visited the India Carpet Expo in Varanasi on an invitation of CEPC( Carpet Export Promotion Council) to study the qualities of Indian handmade carpets. “The Chinese delegation was very excited to visit the Expo and informed that they witnessed a very high quality in Indian handmade carpets, which they did not find in China.
