China's first large passenger plane makes maiden flight
PTI China's first large homemade passenger jet, touted as a competitor to Boeing and Airbus, made its maiden flight today, heralding the Communist giant's entry into the highly-competitive global aviation sector. The 158-seater C919 aircraft took to the skies from Shanghai Pudong International Airport in eastern China and made the country the fourth jumbo jet producer after the US, Europe and Russia, the state media reported. The 80-minute flight was greeted with applause by more than 1,000 spectators on the tarmac, including Chinese Vice Premier Ma Kai and Shanghai Party chief Han Zheng. Patanjali successfully bids for food park at MIHAN
The Dollar Business Bureau Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, the FMCG company founded by Baba Ramdev, has successfully submitted a proposal to set up a modern food park at Multi-modal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN). Earlier, Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) had floated two global tenders this year, one in May and the other in July, but has not been able to get a bidder. MADC has floated the tenders for the third time and got Patanjali Ayurved Ltd as the qualified bidder, the state-owned agency said in a press release on Friday. The state-run agency has taken a decision to create agro, herbal, food and forest-based industrial parks, spreading across a 230-acre land in MIHAN. International Tourist Arrivals on e-Visa records 893% growth during Jan-Aug 2015
The Dollar Business Bureau Since the government rolled out Tourist Visa on Arrival (TVoA) scheme on November 27, 2014, India has witnessed an upsurge in international tourists arriving on e-Tourist Visa. During January-August 2015, the number of international arrivals has recorded a staggering growth. India attracted nearly 1.7 lakh international tourists, up 892.9% from 17,120 during the same period in 2014. “This high growth may be attributed to introduction of e-Tourist Visa for 113 countries as against coverage of earlier TVoA scheme for 12 countries,” said the Ministry of Tourism in a statement. Last month, 22,286 tourists travelled to India on e-Visa as compared to 2,705 during the same period last year. It registered a growth of 723.9% over August 2014. ...
