The Dollar Business Bureau Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu said on Tuesday that he believes there are good prospects of exports of Khadi from the country as the world shifting towards natural and eco-friendly products, thus creating a demand for eco-friendly products. “The export prospects of Khadi is rest assured with world moving towards natural and eco-friendly products,” Prabhu said at a round table discussion, organised by Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) with support from Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and UDAAN SKILL. “More and more people are becoming conscious of responsibility towards the environment and ecology and greater demand is being generated for bio-degradable and eco-friendly products,” he added. Khadi weaving, spinning centre opens in Srinagar
PTI The Minister for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) Kalraj Mishra, on Sunday, inaugurated a spinning and weaving centre and marketing plaza for khadi goods in Srinagar. At the centre -- Harmukh Khadi Gram Udyog Sansthan -- Mishra also distributed 25 model charkhas among local artisans at a function, said a government release. "The charkha is a symbol of resistance and can help maximum number of unemployed youth and women in far flung areas to attain economic independence," Mishra said. Khadi exports can boost Indias MSME sector
The Dollar Business Bureau India’s export of Khadi products was Rs 28.44 lakh during 2013-14, down by more than 50% as compared to the figure registered a year ago. During the financial year 2012-13, the export of various Khadi products crossed Rs 59 lakh, almost five times higher than the total export worth Rs 11.92 lakh a year ago, revealed a government data. Revamped SFURTI scheme to boost Khadi industry
The Dollar Business Bureau The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) under the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) on Sunday, organized an event aimed at promotion of traditional industries of India. A national workshop on revamping of ‘Scheme of fund for regeneration of traditional industries (SFURTI)’ was aimed at creating platform for interaction and knowledge sharing on cluster development.
