The Dollar Business Bureau India’s mineral production recorded a growth of 9.4% in the month of August this year compared to the same month last year. The total value of mineral production during the month was Rs.18,015 crore. “The index of mineral production of mining and quarrying sector for August 2017 at 92.7, was 9.4% higher as compared to the level in the month of August 2016,” according to a statement issued by the Ministry on Mines on Monday. “The total value of mineral production - excluding atomic and minor minerals - during August 2017 was Rs.18,015 crore,” it said. Philippines may ban unprocessed mineral exports
The Dollar Business Bureau Philippines is considering imposing a ban on unprocessed mineral exports in an effort to encourage value addition to the mining sector, a senior government official said. Philippines is the topmost nickel ore exporter in the world, supplying almost all of its production to China. The previous governments had supported the calls to promote domestic processing of minerals but their efforts were unsuccessful as the Congress was unable to enact appropriate laws. “It’s one of the things we’re considering for any mine that we think should remain operating. Mineral production index grew 3.9% in November
The Dollar Business Bureau The mineral production index of mining and quarrying industry for the month of November rose by 3.9% while the overall value of mineral production in the month has been projected at Rs.20,481 crore. “The index of mineral production of the mining and quarrying sector for November 2016, at 135.9, was 3.9% higher compared to November 2015,” Mines Ministry said in a statement on Friday. “The cumulative growth for the 8-month period April-November of 2016-17 has been 0.3% as compared to the same period in the previous year,” it said. Himachal govt issues guidelines for scientific mining
PTI Himachal Pradesh government has notified the guidelines for transparent auction and scientific mining and hiked the penalty for offences under the mining act. The government has decided that the mining lease would be granted through open auction, officials said. In order to curb illegal mining the state government has notified Himachal Pradesh Minor Minerals (Concession) and Minerals (Prevention of Illegal Mining,Transportation and Storage) Rules, 2015 providing for stringent punishment for illegal mining. Imprisonment up to two years or fine up to Rs 25,000 or both has been made for those involved in illegal mining of minerals, their transportation and holding. Pottangi Bauxite mines lease granted to NALCO
The Dollar Business Bureau National Aluminum Company Ltd, (NALCO) a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise, under Ministry of Mines, has been granted lease of Pottangi Bauxite mines, Odisha. The Bauxite mine, whose lease has been extended to NALCO, is situated in Koraput of Odisha, where NALCO’s 22,75,000 tonne capacity lumina refinery is based. NALCO, on Wednesday, stated that the lease of Pottangi which is spread across 1,738 hectares, has been granted for 50 years. Govt to put 50-60 mines on auction this year

HP clears 79 investment proposals worth Rs 3,300 cr
Source: PTI The Himachal Pradesh government has approved 79 proposals envisaging investment of Rs 3,300.16 crore out of total 117 proposals received in recent investor meets, state Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said. The minister said as many as 117 Industrial proposals with estimated investment of Rs 6,031.37 crore were received as a result of "investors meets" organised by the government at Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and New Delhi last year. The index of mineral production in the month of March this year was at 148.5, up 0.9% as compared to the same month in 2014.
