The Dollar Business Bureau The state government of Odisha, which is working on a new state export policy, has set a target of reaching Rs.1 lakh crore of exports by the year 2025. “Odisha has set a target of achieving an export turnover of Rs.1 lakh crore by 2025,” said L N Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department on Thursday. The Government is working on a number of enabling factors that would be included into the new export policy in order to give a major boost to the State’s export turnover, he added. “A draft has been prepared for Odisha Export Policy, 2017, which lays emphasis on promoting the exports from traditional as well as non-traditional sectors,” Gupta said while addressing a seminar on export finance in Bhubaneswar. Aquaculture registering rapid growth: Minister
PTI Aquaculture has seen exponential growth since 2009-10 in India with a projected export figure of $5.6 billion and the country could ambitiously target foreign exchange of $10 billion by 2020 through export, Karnataka Fisheries Minister Pramod Madhwaraj said. Inaugurating the three-day 'Aqua Aquaria India 2017' event, organised by Marine Products Export Development Agency in Mangaluru on Sunday, he said satellite imaging technology using GIS applications and mobile apps for real time monitoring had been introduced in the aquaculture sector for improved performance. Vannamei shrimp helping Indias marine product exports: MPEDA
The Dollar Business Bureau India’s marine product exports has witnessed a boost with the introduction of exotic Vannamei shrimp into the country’s coastal aquaculture system, according to Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA). "Indian marine product exports are doing quite well over the last few years. Major factor that contributed to the increase in exports was the introduction of exotic Vannamei shrimp variety into our coastal aquaculture systems," highlighted MPEDA Chairman Dr A Jayathilak. Govt announces incentives for marine exports under MEIS
The Dollar Business Bureau Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday announced a number of measures that include establishing agencies in all coastal states for aquaculture and fisheries and incentives for exporting marine items, under the Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS). Currently, government allocates Rs.22,000 crore yearly for exports, under the MEIS. “From the current fiscal onwards, an additional amount of Rs.1,500 crore will be provided under the MEIS scheme that will include some specific marine and seafood products,” Sitharaman said at the India International Seafood Show in Visakhapatnam. India targets marine products exports worth $5.6 bn in 2016-17

Touching a one million tonne mark, marine exports fetched foreign exchange of $5.5 billion to the country during the period.
