The Dollar Business Bureau Considering the growing demand for organic produce in the global markets, there is a pressing need to create awareness about export potential of organic products among farmers, said Minister of State for Agriculture Mohanbhai Kundariya. “The market for edible organic products in India is growing at 25-30%, but awareness about organic farming is still low despite huge spending. While the government is spending crores of rupees on its promotion, still majority of people are unaware about organic farming and its benefits,” he said. The Dollar Business Bureau To increase production of export quality spices, the Spice Board has launched a special scheme to provide financial assistance to farmers for replanting, irrigation, mechanisation, soil conservation and organic farming. Under the new scheme, farmers of small cardamom in Kerala and Tamil Nadu will be able to get up to Rs 70,000 per hectare for replanting of old, diseased and uneconomic plantations. Farmers in Karnataka will get up to Rs 50,000 per hectare for the same purpose.
