Wheat procurement touches 30.1 MT till date
The Dollar Business Bureau The country is looking at good wheat output this year. Wheat procurement is generally done during April to March wheat marketing year. But this year procurement of wheat was taken up a month earlier by the Food Corporation of India. Till now about 30.1 MT of wheat has been procured by the FCI and other state agencies in the ongoing rabi marketing season of 2017-18. This is far beyond last year's total purchase of 22.9 MT of wheat. FICCI hails governments move to give preference to local goods and services

This move by the government has been hailed by the Industry body FICCI which expressed that domestic manufacturing would get a shot in the arm and at the same time promote the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Speaking to the media, FICCI Secretary General A. Didar Singh said, "This was the long-standing demand of Indian industry and is essential to promote domestic manufacturing growth. Odisha targets to procure record 60 lakh MT paddy this year
The Dollar Business Bureau Positive to set a record this year to procure around 60 lakh metric tonne (MT) of paddy, the government of Odisha said on Tuesday that the exercise for Rabi crop would begin from May 1. P K Mohapatra, Secretary, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare said that the Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd (OSCSC) would be going for the 2nd phase of procurement of Rabi paddy from May 1 to June 30. GeM to ensure greater transparency: Sitharaman
The Dollar Business Bureau Directorate General of Supplies and Disposals (DGS&D) has developed Government e-Marketplace (GeM) for the procurement of goods and services by government buyers. This platform would ensure transparency and revolutionise government procurement, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said after launching the GeM in New Delhi on Tuesday. The DGS&D, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has developed the portal as a one stop online marketplace for several government departments and procurement agencies for their regular needs. The GeM would offer complete end-to-end procurement system for the purchase of required goods and services by the government buyers. India inked 18 deals to source defence items from abroad in 2014-15
Source: PIB, Government of India Signing of Defence Deals Capital procurement of defence equipment is made from various indigenous as well as foreign sources and contracts are signed after obtaining approval of competent financial authority in accordance with the provisions of Defence Procurement Procedure-2013. During 2014-15, 18 contracts were signed between May 2014 and February 2015 with foreign vendors including those from USA, Russia, Israel, Germany, France and UK for procurement of items such as missiles, rockets and simulators. Contracts are executed as per terms and conditions incorporated therein.
