Global ransomware attack: India stays on high alert

Over two lakh computers in at least 150 countries are said to have been infected, according to Europol, the European Union's law enforcement agency. Govt wants Apple to consider new policy for local mfg
PTI The government wants iPhone maker Apple to consider a new manufacturing scheme offering duty benefits to set up its plants in the country. "Apple had asked for a set of concessions. For a period of 15 years all the components that Apple imports, they want them to be free of duty. We have a phased manufacturing programme (PMP) because we want more and more value addition to come to the country. Electronics clusters to be set up in 400 cities: Prasad

The electronics manufacturing market in India would be around $400 billion by 2020, said Prasad while speaking at Pravasi Haryana Diwas 2017, in Gurugram (Haryana). The Minister praised the initiatives taken by Haryana’s Chief Minister of Manohar Lal Khattar and his government to encourage IT services in the state. '112' to soon become single number for all emergency services
Source: PTI People will soon have to dial just a single number '112' for help during emergency situations such as availing services of police, ambulance and the fire department. The proposal to have a single number for various emergency services, approved by the inter-ministerial panel Telecom Commission, would be similar to the '911' all-in-one emergency service in the US. All existing emergency numbers will be phased out within a year of rolling out 112, depending upon the awareness about this new facility. On Friday, Alibaba Group President Michael Evans and Global Managing Director K G Gowrappan held a meeting with the Indian Communications and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad to express the company’s interest.
