India to become 2nd largest 4G phone market after China next year
The Dollar Business Bureau With explosive growth recorded in data usage, led by lucrative offers from telecom operators such as Reliance Jio and Airtel, India is expected to become the second biggest 4G handset market by 2018, said a report by market research firm Counterpoint on Thursday. With a projected installed user base of around 340 million 4G handsets, India will take over the US as the second biggest market. Bharti Airtel buys Tikonas 4G business for Rs.1600 cr
The Dollar Business Bureau Telecom major Bharti Airtel Ltd has acquired the 4G business of Tikona Digital Networks for Rs1,600 crore, to ramp up its capacity of a high-speed broadband spectrum to take on Vodafone-Idea Cellular and Reliance Jio Infocomm in a highly competitive telecom market which is witnessing rapid consolidation. The deal, which was announced just a few days after the merger of Vodafone and Idea, will give an edge to Bharti Airtel as the largest telecommunications company in India. Reliance Defence sings agreement with UAE firm
The Dollar Business Bureau Reliance Defence Limited (RDL) on Monday said that it has signed an agreement with Emirates Defence Industries Co. (EDIC) to jointly develop defence products, ships, aviation and MROs. “RDL and EDIC have agreed to jointly explore the opportunity for manufacturing and building capabilities in defense vehicles, aviation and associated areas, defence equipment and armament manufacturing, defence electronics, commercial and naval ships, MRO of military equipment/platforms,” the company said in a statement. Reliance Group to expand business cooperation with Qatar
