SEBI strict towards KYC, P-notes regime

The Dollar Business Bureau Taking the proposals kept before the board in meetings, the Securities and Exchange Board of India issued stern KYC and disclosure rules for participatory notes. Offshore Derivatives Instruments issuers will now have to identify and verify the Beneficial Owners in subscriber entities holding threshold more than permissible limits, which is 25% in case of companies and 15% in partnership firms. The issuers have also been asked to verify the people who control the operations, when BO are not in accordance with the above mentioned criteria of threshold, said SEBI. Cabinet approves foreign investment in AIFs

Source: PTI To attract more overseas money into the country, the Union Cabinet on Wednesday, cleared a proposal allowing foreign entities to invest in Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs). The decision will help make available more funds to start-ups, early stage ventures, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which are generally considered as high risk investments. Official sources said the Cabinet has given its approval for foreign investments in AIFs that are set up under Sebi regulations and would widen the avenues for overseas entities to put in their money. RE Investment Trusts an eligible financial instrument under FEMA

The Dollar Business Bureau The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its approval to allow the Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) as an eligible financial instrument / structure under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) 1999. The approval is expected to enable foreign investment inflows into the completed rent yielding real estate projects, which is, as of now, prohibited under the FEMA Regulations, reported a PIB release. BSE to auction Rs 507-crore government bonds for FIIs

The Dollar Business Bureau Opening yet another opportunity for foreign investors, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on April 24, 2015 announced the auction of government debt securities worth Rs 507 crore for FIIs (Foreign Institutional Investors) to be held on April 27, 2015. "Live bidding session for allocation of debt investment limits for FII and sub-accounts shall be conducted on Monday, April 27, 2015 on Exchange’s platform,” the bourses said in a circular released on Friday. The announcement came a day after the Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, said that the government will soon clarify the rules of the Minimum Alternate Tax (MAT) being imposed on overseas investors.
