Indian Railways to join hands with Malaysia to modernise and redevelop 20 stations across country
The Dollar Business Bureau The Indian Railways is making plans to join hands with Malaysia to redevelop about 20 stations in Tier-II cities across the country. This project could attract nearly Rs 1 lakh crore in private investment the railways said. The redevelopment project entails infrastructure revamp at platforms and in the circulating areas. The project also encompasses development of station areas for commercial purposes. The government has plans to construct hotels, eateries, shopping malls, office complexes and multiplexes in the excess land that railways has, for the developers to be used for 45 years. Indian e-commerce industry to cross $100-bn mark by 2020
The Dollar Business Bureau Undeterred by the demand slowdown in the global market, Indian e-commerce industry is expected to cross $100-billion mark, registering annual growth rate of 35% over the next five years, a study has said. The study conducted by Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM)-Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) has estimated $17 billion the current size of the industry. “Continuing on the strong growth momentum of 2015, the e-commerce industry is estimated to see a 72% increase in the average annual spending on online purchases per individual in 2016 from the current level of 65%,” the study said.
