Gold, silver climb on global cues

Source: PTI Gold prices surged by Rs.180 to Rs.29,430 per ten grams at the bullion market on Saturday, tracking a firm global trend and pick up in buying by jewellers and retailers amid wedding season demand. Silver prices also edged up by Rs.50 to Rs.38,700 per kg on higher demand from industrial units and coin makers. Traders said that besides firming trend in bullion rates overseas, there was rise in demand by jewellers and retailers in the domestic market largely on account of weddings. Gold 3-week high crosses Rs 29k mark

The Dollar Business Bureau Amidst positive global signs and a stable demand from stockists, the prices of gold have surged further and hit the Rs 29,000-mark at the national market on Tuesday. Standard gold (with 99.5 purity) jumped by Rs.175 to close at Rs.29,155 per 10 grams from Rs.28,980 of Monday's level. Pure gold (with 99.9 purity) also increased by the same margin to end at Rs 29,305 per 10 grams from Rs.29,130. Gold, silver slip on subdued demand, global cues

 Source: PTI Snapping its winning run, gold plunged by Rs.350 to Rs.28,360 per 10 grams at the bullion market on Wednesday on reduced offtake from stockists and investors amid subdued local buying and weak global cues. Elsewhere, silver also dropped following hectic speculative selling and lower industrial demand. Standard gold (99.5 purity) plunged by Rs.350 to finish at Rs.28,360 per 10 grams from Tuesday's closing level of Rs.28,710.
