Cabinet approves MoU for $9 bn export credit from Korea

The Dollar Business Bureau The Cabinet has approved a proposed agreement for export credit of $9 billion between Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank) and Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) for infrastructure development in the country and for supplying goods and services as a part of project in other nations. “The Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the proposed memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank) and Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) for export credit of $9 billion for infrastructural development in India and for the supply of goods and services as part of projects in third countries,” said an official statement. India is seeking to double German investment: Ex-envoy

The Dollar Business Bureau India seeks to double the investment from Germany over the coming five years from the present 9.5 billion euros and it also wants a rise of two-fold in the number of German firms in the country, said a former India’s Ambassador to Germany on Tuesday.  In the last few years, India has attracted around 74 German firms that have business ideas worth $1 billion of investment, Gurjit Singh told PTI. Spectrum policy for roll out of 5G in India underway

India expects $56-bn funding in electronics sector

The Dollar Business Bureau S K Marwaha, Director, Department of Electronics and Information Technology, said India is expecting $56 billion worth of investments in the electronics sector by 2020, to meet its rising demand. The government has permitted 100 percent FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) in the electronics sector with a subsidy of 25 percent, Marwaha said on Wednesday, while speaking at 'India Connect' business forum held at CommunicAsia2016 Exhibition in Singapore. He pointed out that there is a need to enhance the electronics sector production by around $300 billion in the next four years, given the high demand for hi-tech products, which will also come from the development and restructuring of 98 Smart Cities (under India’s Smart Cities Mission) across India. ...

Smart Cities asked for projects for loan support

The Dollar Business Bureau  The government has asked the selected 20 Smart Cities to ascertain and confirm their bankable projects for securing loan assistance from the three lenders Asian Development Bank (ADB), the BRICS Development Bank, and the World Bank. On Friday, Rajiv Gauba, Secretary (Urban Development) held a meeting with the officials of eight smart cities and reviewed their progress made on specific projects in these cities.  Gauba conveyed it to the officials that the ADB has agreed to extend a loan of $1 billion, while the World Bank has agreed to provide a loan of $0.50 billion for the implementation of the Smart City programme.
