ICRA predicts strong growth in demand for base metals
The Dollar Business Bureau ICRA predicts that the demand for base metals will remain firm in future as the government is heavily investing in infrastructure. The Smart City Mission will also boost the use of metals like zinc, aluminium and copper as construction activity picks up pace. Massive investments in infrastructure for distribution and transmission of power will further fuel the output of base metals. During FY 2016-17 (Apr-Nov), the output growth of zinc, aluminium and copper remained high at 7%, 10% and 8% respectively, owing to healthy demand from the power sector and automobile manufacturers. The Dollar Business Bureau With Britain’s exit from European Union (EU), a bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the UK is likely to be hassle free, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) revealed. A delegation of Indian industry leaders, headed by CII President Naushad Forbes, has visited the UK during July 5-7, 2016. The three-day visit is aimed at strengthening the UK-India economic relations. According to CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee, Brexit has opened up new opportunities. Now, it is easy for the country to negotiate an FTA with the UK at a bilateral level. Malaysia to invest $30 billion in Indian infra projects
The Dollar Business Bureau Malaysia on Thursday proposed to invest $30 billion in urban development and housing projects in India. A 30-member Malaysian delegation, led by Minister of Works Haji Fadillah Bin Haji Yusof, met Minister of Urban Development and Housing M Venkaiah Naidu to discuss investment opportunities in developing and redeveloping urban areas under the Smart City Mission. “Redevelopment of New Delhi Railway Station adjoining area as a mini-smart city is proposed to be taken up with an investment of about $24 billion. Bloomberg Philanthropies to help India in Smart City project
The Dollar Business Bureau Bloomberg Philanthropies has become the official knowledge partner of the Indian government’s smart city project and the organisation will soon start preparing list of possible cities. The ministry of urban development has accepted the offer of Bloomberg Philanthropies (BP) for cooperation in conducting the ‘Cities Challenge’ competition for selecting the cities for financing. Bloomberg Philanthropies will act as the knowledge partner for the smart cities mission, a government state said. BP will assist the ministry in design and implementation of the selection process.
