The Dollar Business Bureau Tea exports from India recorded a growth of 7% and reached 200.67 million kg during the period April-January of the current fiscal as compared to the same period last fiscal. Tea exports reach an all-time high of 240.7 million kg in 2017
The Dollar Business Bureau Tea exports from India have touched an all-time high of 240.7 million kilograms, in 36 years, during the calendar year 2017, according to data by Tea Board. “India has achieved the highest tea exports during the calendar year 2017 (Jan–Dec) after 36 years, pegged at 240.68 million kilograms. The previous record was in 1981 when the total tea exports reached 241.25 million kilograms,” Tea Board said in a statement. Indias tea exports fall 2% in April-Sept period
The Dollar Business Bureau India's tea exports fell 2% to Rs.2,084.06 crore in the first six months of the current financial year. The total value of exports stood at Rs.2,124.97 crore during the corresponding period of last year. The Tea Board in its latest released data said the exports have dipped to 101.04 million kg from 106.36 million kg in the corresponding period last fiscal. The exports in value terms, however, remained marginally higher during the six-month period of the current fiscal on better unit value realisation. Indias Tea Board aims to double tea exports to Australia

This could double in the next five years,” Executive Director of Tea Board C Paulrasu said, adding that Australia is looking only for specialty products such as green tea, flavoured teas, organic tea and value-added teas. Earlier, Paulrasu led a 15-member delegation of tea exporters to Australia. “Indian tea exporters are fully geared to cater to the international market,” Paulrasu said. The country earned Rs 3,485 crore by exporting 180 million kg of tea during last year (April-Feb).
