Tea exports reach an all-time high of 240.7 million kg in 2017

The Dollar Business Bureau Tea exports from India have touched an all-time high of 240.7 million kilograms, in 36 years, during the calendar year 2017, according to data by Tea Board. “India has achieved the highest tea exports during the calendar year 2017 (Jan–Dec) after 36 years, pegged at 240.68 million kilograms. The previous record was in 1981 when the total tea exports reached 241.25 million kilograms,” Tea Board said in a statement. Indias coffee exports grew 11.51% to $92.42 mn in April

The Dollar Business Bureau Coffee exports from India recorded a growth of 11.5% year-on-year in April this fiscal on account of robust demand in the world markets. The country exported $92.42 million worth of coffee during the month. The country’s shipment of coffee stood at $82.88 million in the same month last year, as per the data by Ministry of Commerce. In terms of rupee, the exports witnessed a growth of 8.22% at Rs.596.17 crore in the given month. India primarily exports Arabica and Robusta varieties of the commodity, in addition to instant coffee. Govt plans to merge all five commodity boards

The Dollar Business Bureau The government is planning to merge all the commodity boards and establish an umbrella organisation, a decision aimed at improving production and exports of crops such as coffee, tea and spices. The Ministry of Commerce pointed out that some of these commodity boards were established prior to independence, but their merger could harmonise their activities, leading to enhanced exports. The five commodity boards are responsible for output, development and outbound shipments of coffee, rubber, spices, tea and tobacco. “India has a huge potential to boost agri exports. Indias tea exports fall 2% in April-Sept period

The Dollar Business Bureau  India's tea exports fell 2% to Rs.2,084.06 crore in the first six months of the current financial year. The total value of exports stood at Rs.2,124.97 crore during the corresponding period of last year. The Tea Board in its latest released data said the exports have dipped to 101.04 million kg from 106.36 million kg in the corresponding period last fiscal. The exports in value terms, however, remained marginally higher during the six-month period of the current fiscal on better unit value realisation. The export realisation stood at Rs.206.26 per kg compared to Rs.199.79 per kg a year ago. Indias Tea Board aims to double tea exports to Australia

The Dollar Business Bureau The Tea Board of India aims to double its tea exports volume to Australia in the next five years. “Indian tea exports to Australia now stand at 3 million kg. This could double in the next five years,” Executive Director of Tea Board C Paulrasu said, adding that Australia is looking only for specialty products such as green tea, flavoured teas, organic tea and value-added teas. Earlier, Paulrasu led a 15-member delegation of tea exporters to Australia. “Indian tea exporters are fully geared to cater to the international market,” Paulrasu said. Wagh Bakri looks to achieve 15% growth rate this fiscal

The Dollar Business Bureau  Tea firm Wagh Bakri looks to achieve 15% growth in its revenue to Rs.1,150 crore this financial year.  "Our turnover is Rs.1,000 crore and we are looking at least 15% growth this year," Wagh Bakri Tea Group Executive Director Parag Desai told PTI. Desai said the firm’s growth has been stagnant in the last two years due to lack of rainfall and downturn in economy. Wagh Bakri’s annual tea sales is about 40 million kgs, with tier II and tier III cities accounting for almost 90% of the company’s total tea sales. Tea exports increase over 13% during Jan-Mar 2016

The Dollar Business Bureau India’s tea exports have increased 13.2% in terms of value at Rs.982.39 crore during January- March 2016 when compared to Rs.867.86 crore in the same period previous year. In terms of quantity, the tea exports from the country have grown 6.2% at 54.29 million kg in the first three months of 2016 against 51.12 million kg in the corresponding period last year, as per the data provided by Tea Board of India under Union Ministry of Commerce.
