Aamir H Kaki Mahavir Pratap Sharma, Chairman, Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC), said on Monday that they are expecting a business of a few thousand crore rupees at the 33rd edition of India Carpet Expo (ICE). “We are hoping to generate a lot of business from this edition of ICE. This is one of our bi-annual events and I personally feel that New Delhi is easy for buyers to come. The previous edition was held in Varanasi last year. Two textile parks approved for Uttarakhand
PTI Two textile parks have been approved for Uttarakhand and the state government has to decide where it wants to set them up, Union Minister of State for Textiles, Ajay Tamta, said recently.In these parks, weavers will be provided hi-tech infrastructure facilities, modern technology, training and raw materials, he said.The minister from Almora constituency said he will especially try to improve the conditions of the weavers living in remote areas of Uttarakhand and in the hilly areas along the Sino-Indian border.He said this will help in reducing migration in the hilly areas in search of jobs and not only the weavers but educated and skilled youth will also get work opportunities.
Centre approves Rs.6000-cr package for textile sector
The Dollar Business Bureau The Textile Ministry on Thursday conveyed that it is taking concrete steps to set up textile parks in India with an emphasis on linking these parks with tourism. The Centre has provided Rs.10 crore for improvement of Raghurajpur area in Odisha to facilitate textile-tourism linkage. "As many as 24 textile parks have been set up in different parts of the country in the last two years of the BJP-led NDA government. India likely to persuade Bangladesh for lifting jute export ban

Bangladesh government had on November 3 imposed a blanket ban on the outbound shipment of raw jute in order to ensure adequate supply of fibre within the domestic market and help sack makers.
