Indias auto exports down 9.7% in Q1 2016-17
The Dollar Business Bureau India’s overall auto exports fell 9.7% in the first quarter of the current fiscal due to a significant decline in demand in some of the country’s core automobile markets. The sales of three-wheeler segment witnessed the maximum decline, as it shrank by 46.22% to almost 66 thousand units compared to over 122 thousand units in the same period a year ago. The two-wheeler exports, too, contracted by 8.3% to over 577 thousand units during April-June 2016-17 from almost 623 thousand units in the same period a year ago. Car sales drop in May on sluggish demand
The Dollar Business Bureau After witnessing a strong growth of 11 percent in the month of April, sales in passenger vehicles in May slowed down to 6.26 percent, due to poor performance of the passenger car (cars, vans and utility vehicles) segment. Monthly sales of cars, which make for around 70 percent of the local passenger vehicle market, dropped 0.9 percent in the month of May. On the other hand, utility vehicle sub-segment sales witnessed a high double-digit growth. India's auto exports down 16% to 2.44 lakh units
The Dollar Business Bureau Indian automobile exports have come down 15.87% to 2.44 lakh units in April against 2.9 lakh units in same month last year. This was revealed by the apex organisation for auto manufacturers in the country, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). The reason for this being a continuous slump in demand in important global markets such as Africa and Latin America, it said. According to the SIAM data, after three months of continuous growth, automobile exports came down in April 2016. While the auto exports have increased 3.8% in January, they have surged up 0.95% in February and 6.53% in March.
