The Dollar Business Bureau Malaysia’s Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said that in the last decade, Malaysian firms have created a strong presence in Indonesia in major sectors such as banking, construction, plantation, energy, toll-road and telecommunications. He said while referring to a roundtable business meeting, co-chaired by himself and Eko Putro Sandjojo, a Minister in the government in charge of facilitating Malaysian investments in Indonesia, where Malaysian firms expressed their keenness to continue to play a major role in the socio-economic growth of Indonesia. Jt-Study commissioned to evaluate Indo-Georgian FTA
The Dollar Business Bureau Trade ministries from India and Georgia have agreed to a joint feasibility study to evaluate the comprehensive India-Georgia free trade agreement. An agreement for a “joint-feasibility-study” was signed on 11th April 2017 between Giorgio Gakharia, Georgian Minister for Economy and Nirmala Sitharaman, the minister for commerce and Industry at New Delhi, officially indicating the start of a comprehensive study for an FTA. Joint Secretary- Foreign Trade (CIS), Department of Commerce, and Genadi Arveladze, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia would be leading the Indian and Georgian side respectively within the study. WTO mini-ministerial: Trade ministers to meet in Oslo in Oct
PTI Trade ministers from nearly 20 countries, including India and the US, are expected to converge in Oslo later this month to deliberate on the road ahead, including the post-Nairobi programme, for WTO. “It will be a kind of WTO mini-ministerial meeting. About 20-22 trade ministers may attend the meeting. Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is likely to participate, besides WTO Director General Roberto Azevedo and others,” an official said. The meeting assumes significance as India has recently floated a concept note pitching for a trade facilitation agreement (TFA) in services. India to pitch for permanent solution to food security issue at WTO
Source: PTI Backed by several developing countries, India will strongly pitch for finding a permanent solution to the food security issue and a mechanism to protect poor farmers from surge in imports at the WTO meeting of 160 trade ministers', beginning in Nairobi on Tuesday.
