Refrain from new protectionist measures: WTO to G-20 leaders

The WTO's 14th trade monitoring report on G-20 trade measures showed that the application of new trade-restrictive measures by G-20 economies remained stable compared to the previous reporting period. Although the report shows relative restraint by G-20 economies in introducing new trade restrictions, the stockpile of measures continues to grow. “Because the uncertain global economic outlook continues to have a negative impact on international trade, the report calls on G-20 leaders to deliver on their pledge to refrain from implementing new protectionist measures and to roll back existing trade-restrictive measures,” the WTO said. Anti-dumping probes in India doubled in a year: WTO

The Dollar Business Bureau  India topped the list of countries, initiating at least 28 anti-dumping investigations between October 2014 and April this year, a World Trade Organisation (WTO) report said. The report on trade-related developments in WTO member countries during October-May 2014-15 released on Thursday shows that India initiated the maximum number of investigations related to anti-dumping against exports from different countries. The country had initiated only 15 such probes during the same period a year ago, when Brazil had initiated the largest number of 35 investigations. WTO sees slight deceleration in G20 trade restrictions

The Dollar Business Bureau The World Trade Organisation’s (WTO) thirteenth trade monitoring report on G20 trade measures, issued on June 15, 2015, shows a slight deceleration in the application of new trade-restrictive measures by G20 economies, with the average number of such measures applied per month lower than at any time since 2013. Since mid-October 2014, 119 new trade-restrictive measures were put in place over the period — an average of 17 new measures per month. Also during this period, G-20 economies continued to adopt measures aimed at facilitating trade. The trend on these trade liberalizing measures remains stable with G-20 economies introducing some 112 new measures during the period under review — an average of 16 measures per month.
