14 more cities in 1st round of Smart Cities Mission
Aamir H Kaki The government is set to announce 14 more cities in a few days under the Smart City Mission, taking the total number of cities to 34 that will be financed in the first round, the Urban Development Ministry said. “There are 20 cities that have already been selected. France pledges 2 billion euro for smart cities
The Dollar Business Bureau France has committed investments up to 2 billion euro for the development of smart cities in India. The investments will be meant to convert Chandigarh, Nagpur and Puducherry into smart cities, French Ambassador in India Francois Richier said on Wednesday. “Also, there is an investment of another 200 million euros for the extension of Bangalore metro,” he said. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to France in April, the country had committed 600 million euro for smart cities and other projects related to sustainability, including in renewable energy and energy efficiency. Union Urban Ministry and USTDA together to pursue smart cities
The Dollar Business Bureau The Union Minister of Urban Development, M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday has set up city-wise Task Forces for drawing action plans, as a part of the Government of India’s (GoI) Smart City initiative, towards the development of three Indian cities- Ajmer, Allahabad and Visakhapatnam. Setting up of these task forces by the government comes as a follow up to the meeting that was held between the Union Urban Minister and the US Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker in New Delhi recently.
