US-based tech group urges Trump to overcome digital trade barriers
The Dollar Business Bureau A US-based technology group Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) has prodded the Trump government to take steps in overcoming barriers in digital trade and alleged that various countries including China and India are biased in their policies which unfairly disadvantage US companies. In addition, the technology group named countries like Canada, Indonesia, Russia, South Korea, Mexico and Vietnam, which have followed discriminatory policies against American companies. “Multiple foreign governments have turned to discriminatory or otherwise harmful policies that unfairly disadvantage American companies and impede the ability of technology products and services to drive growth,” ITI said in a report to the President. Continuous exports growth gives confidence to exporters on easy sailing with GST
The Dollar Business Bureau Federation of Indian Export Organisation (FIEO) on Friday said that the continuous growth in exports gives confidence to the exporters in India on easy sailing with GST. The new regime of Goods and Services Tax (GST), which will subsume most of the indirect taxes, is expected to be rolled out from July 1, 2017. “The exports data for the month of May, 2017 showed yet another consecutive and positive growth depicting the strength and competitiveness of Indian industry,” said Dr A Sakthivel Regional Chairman FIEO Southern Region. Indias seafood export at all-time high in 2016-17 : MPEDA
The Dollar Business Bureau Riding on a robust demand for its frozen shrimp and frozen fish in international markets, India exported 11,34,948 MT of seafood worth an all time high of $5.78 billion (Rs 37, 870.90 crore) in 2016-17 as against 9,45,892 tons and $4.69 billion dollars a year earlier, with USA and South East Asia continuing to be the major importers while the demand from the European Union (EU) grew substantially during the period. Frozen shrimp maintained its position as the top item of export, accounting for 38.28 per cent in quantity and 64.50 per cent of the total earnings in dollar terms. Tata Coffee to set up facility in Vietnam
The Dollar Business Bureau Tata Coffee on Monday announced it would establish a $50 million (about Rs.350 crore) greenfield instant coffee facility in Vietnam. “The board approved the setting up of a state-of-the-art greenfield freeze dried instant coffee facility in Vietnam of 5,000 tonnes per annum,” Tata Coffee said in a statement. “Estimated project cost is $50 million (about Rs.350 crore),” the company said. In a seperate announcement, Tata Coffee said the coffee board has appointed Anantha Murthy N as the company’s Secretary and Compliance Officer with effect from December 20, 2016.
