Google announces launch of Wi-Fi service at Guwahati
PTI Tech giant Google announced on Tuesday 10 May, the launch of free high-speed public Wi-Fi service at Guwahati Railway Station in Assam. The live service would be available to users at 15 stations across the country. Besides Guwahati, the service also goes live in Jaipur, Patna, Ujjain and Allahabad Railway stations and Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will formally inaugurate the same at these new stations soon, Google India's Head of Access Programs Gulzar Azad said. Google has been deploying the service over the extensive fibre network of the Railways' arm RailTel which provides Internet services as RailWire. BSNL will lay 2700-km of cable to improve services in Assam
Source: PTI For better network and connectivity, the BSNL Assam Telecom Circle plans to lay 2,747 km cable to cover 1,010 gaon panchayats (GP) in 91 blocks and 19 districts of Assam. "Under the National Optical Fiber Network (NOFN) Project we have planned to lay 2,747 km of cable to cover 1,010 gaon panchayats (GP) in 91 blocks and 19 districts of Assam", BSNL Assam Telecom Circle Chief General Manager M K Seth said here.
