Few other prominent figures present in the event were Dr. Kavita Gupta – Textile Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles, and FICCI Technical Textile Task force and Ginni filament, Shri Shishir Jaipura. It was a moment to behold for FICCI as there were many dignitaries from the technical textile industry and enthusiast visitors across the globe.

The guest of honour released the i A-TUFS software and guidelines, Knowledge Report, Textile Compendium FY2015, and Technotex 2016 Exhibition Directory. And commenting on Technical Textiles’ future, Gangwar said, “This platform is a facilitator for technology transfer, joint ventures, linkages and to exchange innovate ideas and exhibit what’s happening around the world.”

The exhibition has attracted over 150 exhibitors from various technical textile industry across the country and international participants from Korea, Japan, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, U.S.A, Belgium, France, Spain, Russia, U.K, Taiwan, China and more. The states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are prominent partakers in the event—there are states like Karnataka and Gujarat who are participating in the event as a team. Other interesting participants in the event include stakeholders in the technical textile sector and major institutional buyers from navy, army, railways, paramilitary forces, hospitals, border roads organizations, construction companies and more.

The Indian technical textile sector is at its initial stage, however, government and industry stakeholders consider the sector as one of the fastest growing segments in the textile sector. Concurring to the anticipation, the 12th Five Year Plan has estimated the market to grow to $28.82 billion (1.58 lakh crore) in the FY2017, which is about 20% growth rate.
