TNT aims to lead the healthcare logistics segment

The company has launched a new web-based application that is expected to become a gamechanger in the clinical trial supply chain in Asia Sachin Manawaria | The Dollar Business TNT Express, founded by Australian Ken Thomas in 1946, with just single truck, today delivers in more than 200 countries with strong presence in Europe. On a daily basis, the company transports nearly one million consignments, a feat that makes it one of the top express delivery companies in the world. In The Dollar Business’s Logistics Survey involving companies in India, TNT Express stood among the top five in the list of top 50 logistic companies in India. The survey took into consideration various parameters related to foreign trade such as turnover, fleet size, geographical spread, technology, and warehousing capacity. TNT Express has recently ventured into healthcare logistics by launching a new web-based application - TNT Trial DaT - that is expected to revolutionise the clinical trial supply chain. As the pharmaceutical industry enters a new phase of rapid growth with large pipeline designed to get new drugs to markets faster, the clinical research sector faces the challenge of maintaining tight controls over processes as well as budgets of trails, said the company. TNT TrialDaT is a tool which is developed for the clinical research sector that captures end-to-end data on a single platform and offers a dashboard view of all clinical material transport flows. This ability to extract data on macro and micro levels enables the stakeholders to significantly improve their supply chain visibility enabling better decision making capacity, said TNT Express. It effectively builds on our current expertise, allowing our clinical research clients to optimise both cost and services, throughout their supply chain process.” TNT moves more than five lakh clinical samples per year in Asia, a market that is currently valued at $500 Million and is expected to grow at 10-15% year on year as per industry sources.  TNT established its Indian operations in 1994.
